It was another one of those gloomy days. The sun was dim, the shadows were emerging, and everyone was just plain sick. I let my feet hang off the roof and I put my head on my bag. A deep voice startled my secureness. "You on the roof again Jay?" It was him again. Austin. He always called me Jay. I never knew why. The startled voice lead me off the roof, and onto my back of the cold, frosty ground. "You okay?" He walks over snickering. I felt a few wires under me spark, and I heard an outage in my wrist. "Um, yeah!" I quickly stood up. Oh no, i thought. A tracking chord had broken inside of me. A tracking chord is what helps us HPs connect with the machines. "Austin, I got to.."A sudden pain shock me in the wrist. The place where your vital vain would be. I cringe in pain and faltered slowly away. "I have to go." My voice was a little hoarse, and to Austin he probably thought I was stupid or something. Thinking a talking 70 pound, 14 year old fish bone like me would make it through that fall. "Bye...i guess." His final goodbye slapped me in the face telling me he wasn't going to be gone for sure. I lied by a tree and glared at my wrist. Not only was the tracking chord snapped, but so was the nerve wire. Ugh, why did they have to make me an HP? Why couldn't they keep me human? My thoughts flooded inside of me. I knew for sure that something bad will happen soon, today.
